Jungle Legends 1.0 — Gems, End-Game Rewards and Weapons

Hello Jungle Legends community, as promised in our latest developer update, we’re back with some feature highlights and today we’ll dig deeper into some of the most important elements introduced with version 1.0 as well as a sneak peek we left at the end.. Let’s get it rolling with the introduction of our third currency.

Gems — Our 3rd Currency

One thing our game was missing for a larger audience adoption is a 3rd currency that will act as a hard currency for players who are not (yet) familiar with blockchain and web3. This is where Gems come into play. Gems give players access to exclusive items and features and can help offer more flexibility when it comes to accelerate their progression should they choose to. Players who own Crowns will be able to purchase Gems directly from the store with a considerable discount.

End-Game Rewards & Arena Royale

Another major change for the game will be how Crown rewards are earned and there are multiple elements to discuss here, but let’s start with why a change was needed. As we’ll onboard new players of all types, we need to make sure that all audiences interact with one another without compromising anyone’s experience. NFT holders who are earning Crowns should not be penalised and potentially lose out on rewards just because their team-mates are not playing for high stakes and therefore are not taking a specific game session seriously. This is where Arena Royale comes into play.

Arena Royale will constitute our competitive mode that is only available for NFT players, either owners or borrowers. The Arena Royale will take the form of a weekly tournament with a weekly reset and rewards will be earned in 3 different ways:

  1. Earn Crowns by winning matches
  2. Weekly leaderboard — Finish high on the leaderboard to get valuable rewards and Crowns. This leaderboard is based on your account.
  3. NFT Ladder — While not directly rewarding additional Crowns, the NFT ladder will increase your NFTs earning potential (in addition to your NFT level)

Additional Rules / Arena Royale Details

  • There will be no bots in these games so wait times to find a balanced match might vary depending on region
  • Only a victory will result in a direct Crown reward at the end of a match
  • Each NFT will have 5 arena royale matches available to them daily
  • Arena Royale will not be distributing other progression related resources that are needed for characters and weapons

One important thing to remember is that Arena Royale is not meant to be farmable. NFT owners or borrowers will still have to play the regular game modes with the larger audience in order to gain the needed resources for their progression. This provides players with both a high stakes game when playing arena royale but also with a more relaxed option, where players can farm resources and practice their skills.

The arena royale addresses multiple things that we believed were necessary to address in order to have a more successful earning system. Firstly, it increases the importance of a players account with the introduction of the Leaderboard and therefore reduces the amount of multi accounting in the game. It also gives better earning opportunities to high skilled players, regardless if they choose to focus on multiple NFTs (Weekly Leaderboard) or on a single one (NFT Ladder). The impact of a disconnect, performance issue or other things out of the control of the player is also less due to your weekly performance counting more towards your rewards instead of any one match.

We know this will raise a lot of questions and that’s why we are making this feature available during the beta. You’ll be able to experience it live and we will have the opportunity to make the final adjustments for live.

The weapon system

If Characters were the main and only progression in Jungle Legends, this will change with 1.0. Weapons will be an integral part of a player’s journey, both in gameplay and meta-game. So let’s dive deeper into how this entire system works.

Weapons will have multiple progression elements where players can enhance and empower their weapons.

Weapon Levels — This requires actively using that weapon in matches and once the required XP for a level-up is earned, players can upgrade their weapon level by spending some of the earned resources. Upgrading your weapon level will increase that weapon’s base stats.

Weapon Stars — Weapons will have between 1 and 6 stars. To increase the star rank of a weapon, players will need to fuse multiple weapons together. Increasing a weapon’s star rank provides additional bonuses, including some active traits (similar to character perks)

Weapon Fusing — Fusing requires 3 weapons of the same type, collection and star rank to be fused into one. This process will increase the weapon’s star rank by 1 until it reaches 6 stars.

Weapon Dismantling — Should a player have a weapon they don’t want to keep they can dismantle it in order to get some resources back.

Weapon Forge -The Weapon Forge is a new feature that allows players to acquire new weapons. It provides players with multiple types of generating new weapons depending on the resources they have and what they want to spend.

Weapon Collections — Each weapon will belong to a specific collection. The starting weapons will all belong to the common collection of weapons and new collections will be constantly added to the game. Each collection will have a distinct look as well as provide different types of bonuses and effects.

So how will players earn new weapons?

New weapons are acquired in the Forge either by purchasing or by using your existing weapon coins. These weapon coins can be acquired in various places, like the Career Road, the Battle Pass, the Arena Royale as well as other rare events that will take place in Jungle Legends. Each coin can be used in the Forge in order to acquire a new random weapon. The weapon forge provides players with multiple types of ways of acquiring new weapons like:

  • A daily spin which gives players a random 1 or 2 star rank weapon every day for free
  • An epic spin which provides players with a random 2,3 or 4 star rank weapon and it costs Gems
  • An Arsenal-X spin which gives a random NFT weapon from the Arsenal-X collection and requires an Arsenal-X weapon coin (obtainable from Arena Royale Leaderboard)

Other time limited and seasonal events will provide a chance for players to acquire new weapons and potentially focus on a specific weapon they choose.

NFT Weapons

Jungle Legends 1.0 will also introduce NFT weapons. They will become an integral part of both gameplay and the metagame and offer a new path of progression and customization for players to engage with. NFT weapons will only be earnable from the arena royale weekly leaderboard at launch but we do plan to provide new ways of earning or acquiring NFT weapon collections in the future.

As opposed to regular weapons, NFT weapons will require Crowns when upgrading and when fusing, adding more utility to our JL token. The first NFT weapon collection to be released is called Arsenal X and we’ll leave you with a preview of their current visuals.

Before we end this feature highlight, I want to leave you with a sneak peek of another element added to Jungle Legends 1.0 which is the Tombstones. More details about them in our next feature highlight article to come.

Thank you all for your continued support and patience!
